Privacy policy

What we collect

• The story idea, lesson, cast and style you choose, and the book made from them.
• A cookie that identifies your browser, so that My books can show your books. There are no accounts or passwords.
• If you buy a book: your email address, and for a printed book your name, shipping address and phone number.
• A record of your order. Payment details are entered on Stripe's page; we never receive your card number.
• If you arrive from one of our links, a short tag saying which link it was.
• Standard server logs, such as the pages requested and the time.

How we use it

To make your book, show it to you, take payment, print and ship it, send your receipt, answer your questions, keep the service working, and understand in total how people find us. We do not sell your information and we do not use advertising trackers.

Who we share it with

Only the companies that help us deliver the service, and only what each one needs:

• Artificial intelligence providers, such as Anthropic and Google, receive your story idea and choices in order to write and illustrate the book.
• Stripe processes your payment and calculates sales tax.
• Our printing partner, Lulu, receives your name, shipping address, phone number and email for a printed order, along with the book's files.
• Our hosting and backup providers store the site's data on our behalf.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Children

The site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the public shop does not use photos of children. Please do not include a child's full name, address, school or other identifying details in a story idea. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@legiblestudio.com and we'll delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep your books so that you can come back to them, and we keep order records as long as we need them for tax and accounting. Backups are kept for a limited time.

Your choices

Email support@legiblestudio.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have a book and its details deleted. Clearing your browser's cookies removes the link between your browser and your books. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your local privacy law, and we will honor them.

Security and changes

We use encryption in transit and restrict access to the systems that hold your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we also keep what we collect to a minimum.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top.
